15 Korean Drama Couples Who Fell In Love On Set

While watching romantic K-dramas, have you ever fallen in love with the two leads? Did their romance capture your heart? Maybe you even wished they could fall in love in real life. 

Well, as viewers, we sometimes get the pleasure of seeing characters fall in love on screen and sometimes that romance will seep into the real world. 

Great chemistry between actors is hard to come by, and while it could be chalked up to comfortable friendships, there are times when sparks fly. Even after the cameras stop rolling from reel to reel. We'll be looking at Korean couples who showed their romance can go beyond the scenes made for television. 

Not only did they level up their relationship from coworkers to lovers, but they took it a step further and tied the knot to be each other's life partners. Let's learn how these couples started falling in love. 

15 Korean couples who fell in love on set 

Number 15. Kim So-Yeon and Lee Sang Woo 

Actress Kim So-yeon and actor Lee Sang Woo's romance is like something straight out of a K-drama. In 2016, Kim So-Yeon and Lee Sang Woo were cast in the NBC weekend drama Happy Home. 

While the two were not that close during the filming of the drama, after six months of spending time together, Lee Sang Woo realized his feelings so he spontaneously confessed to her. 

The couple started dating in 2016 and held their wedding in June of 2017. Kim So-yeon gained praise for her acting in Penthouse. Lee Sang Woo even made a special appearance in the second season of Penthouse. 

Number 14. Jeon Hye Jin and Lee Chun Hee

Jeon Hye Jin and Lee Chun Hee's relationship is the definition of a slow-burn romance. The two actors met in the 2009 drama Smile You, where they played a couple who didn't realize their feelings for each other right away. 

Similarly, Jeon Hye Jin and Lee Chun Hee didn't realize it either until after the drama ended. They dated for two years until they married in 2011 and made headlines for their nine-year age gap. 

Lee Chun Hee said that he and his wife barely noticed their age difference and it never caused any problems. They welcomed a baby girl four months after their wedding. 

Jeon Hye Jin and Lee Chun Hee were cast in the 2018 drama May 32nd, where they played the role of a married couple. Jeon Hye Jin recently appeared in the jTBC drama My Liberation Notes. 

Number 13. Lee Bo Young and Jisung 

Lee Bo Young and Jisung are two of the industry's biggest stars, and their love story is so touching. The two met in the drama series Save the Last Dance for Me, but they weren't very close when it ended, Jisung said It was love at first sight, so on one of his days off from the military, he asked Lee Bo Young to meet him and she agreed. 

Lee Bo Young initially refused his confession because her personal rule was that she did not date actors, but when Jisung told her that he'd give up acting for her, Lee Bo Young was so moved that she couldn't refuse him. 

After seven years of dating, they got married in September 2013. The couple is still happily married, with two children a seven-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son. 

Number 12. Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young

Starting off as friends in the same industry, Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young starred alongside each other in the 1999 film Love Wind Love Song. 

After losing contact, a chance meeting in Los Angeles had sparks flying after two years of dating, and the pair got married in May of 2010 while the actress was five months pregnant. 

Their star-studded wedding was full of A-list Korean celebrities. Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young have two children together, a son and a daughter. Jang Dong Gun has appeared in the TV drama Arthdal Chronicles and is expected to star in the second season of the show. 

Number 11. In Kyo Jin and So Hi Hyun

We love a good Friends to Lovers story, and In Kyo Jin and So Yi Hyun's romance is one for the books. The two actors were best friends for ten years and starred in several dramas together, like Aeja's older sister Minja in 2008 and Happy Ending in 2012. 

The pair were close enough to discuss their dating lives, and So Yi Hyun admitted she felt jealous when the actor talked about his dating life. In Kyo Jin said their hearts were both open to each other after a decade of friendship, so they started dating with marriage in mind. 

The couple got married in 2014 and they currently have two children together. In Kyo Jin last appeared in the 2022 drama Love All Play, while So-yi Hyun's last drama was Red Shoes in 2021. 

Number 10. Han Jae Suk and Park Sol Mi

Another reel-to-reel couple is Han Jae Suk and Park  Sol Mi, who were part of the 2010 drama The Great Merchant. The chemistry between the two must have been undeniable because after the drama ended, the actors dated for three years. 

In April 2013, Han Jae Suk and Park  Sol Mi announced their marriage and held their wedding with over 1000 invitees. Still happily married, the couple has two daughters together. 

Number 9. Cha Ye Ryeon and Joo Sang Wook  

Met through NBC's Glamorous Temptation in 2015, and quickly realized their feelings for each other after the drama ended. 

The two started dating in March 2016. In May 2017, the couple had a beautiful pre-wedding shoot in Hawaii and tied the knot in South Korea. Joo Sang Wook made a cameo in Alchemy of Souls. 

Number 8. Shin Ae Ra and Cha In Pyo

Actress Shin Ae Ra and her husband, actor Cha In Pyo, met in 1994 when they starred in the drama Loving Your Bossam Together. After developing feelings for each other while acting, they married in 1995. 

Shin Ae Ra and Cha In Pyo have been praised and respected by the Korean public for their philanthropic endeavors, especially since they decided to adopt two girls in 2005 and 2008. 

They were initially criticized, since at the time it was an uncommon practice in Korea, but eventually became an inspiration for other couples to adopt too. 

Number 7. Ha Hee RAand Choi Soo Jung

If you were a fan of the 2020 drama Record of Youth, then you'll remember that the actress who played Park Bo Gum's mother was Ha Hee RA. She is a Taiwanese Korean actress who is known as the representative actress of the 1990s. 

The star met her husband, actor Soo Jung, while they were co-stars in movies such as Puppy Love and You Know What? It's a secret. In the public's eyes of South Korea, the two are also known as the representative couple because they've been married since November 1993, and they're still going strong. 

Ha Hee Ra and Choi Soo Jung's wedding ceremony was very luxurious, as they were some of the youngest actors of their age to get married at the time. Every November, the two spend their time helping others in need. 

They currently have two children and recently celebrated 30 years together. A true statement to their everlasting love. 

Number 6. Park Ha Sun and Ryu Soo Young

The set of the 2013 drama Two Weeks served as the meeting place of actress Park Ha Sun and actor Ryu Soo Young. The two started dating a year later in 2014 and went public in 2015. 

In January of 2017, the stars planned to marry and opted for a private ceremony with friends and family. Park Ha Sun guested on Problem Child in the House in 2022, where she candidly spoke of her relationship with her husband and in-laws. 

The actress and her husband have contrasting personalities, so she speaks bluntly and very little compared to Ryu Soo Young, who is very talkative and expressive. They do seem different but Park Ha Sun has said that her husband feels like family and that she's so comfortable around him. 

The couple is still going strong and is raising their five-year-old daughter together. Park Ha Sun is currently in talks to appear in the fantasy drama Queen of the Scene with Gong Hyo Jin, while Ryu Soo Young will be in the 2023 drama Queen Maker. 

Number 5. Han GA In and Yeong Jung Hoon

When Yeong Jung Hoon and beloved actress Han GA In got married, the Korean public named him the nation's thief because he snatched her up. Han GA In and Yeong Jung Hoon starred in Yellow Handkerchief in 2003, where the pair dated for two years before tying the knot in April 2005. 

They have two children together. Yeong Jung Hoon recently starred in the 2020 drama Lie After Lie, and is a fixed member of the KBS variety program One Night, Two Days. Han GA In last appeared in the 2018 mystery thriller drama Mistress. 

Number 4. SES Eugene and Ki Tae Yong

Before the famous penthouse actress pursued acting, Eugene was a beloved member of the K-pop girl group SES. Eugene met actor Ki Tae Yong on set, where they both starred in the 2009 drama Creating Destiny. 

Eugene revealed that it wasn't love at first sight for either of them, but after exchanging text messages they fell in love. According to Ki Tae Yong, He and Eugene went into the relationship with marriage in mind, and in May 2011, they announced their marriage to each other. 

The two held their wedding in July of that same year. Eugene and Ki Tae Yong have been happily married since then and have two girls together. Eugene was part of SBS's hit drama Penthouse, where she played Oh Yoon Hee in all three seasons of the drama. The couple's love story makes us think that they really did create their own destiny together. 

Number 3. Rain and Kim Tae Hee 

Referred to as the fairytale couple the famous singer and actor Rain dated actress Kim Tae Hee for five years before they got married in 2017. 

The two reportedly met on set to film a commercial where Rain was impressed by her own down-to-earth nature and asked her to go out with him. The singer fell for her quickly, but Kim Tae Hee rejected him five times before finally going out with him. 

Apparently, Rain had a reputation for being a bad boy, but he was honest and told her that the rumors were groundless, which must have touched her heart because the two went out on a date afterward. 

Rain is always raving about Kim Tae Hee, and while they are private about their personal lives, he never forgets to sing praises ever. The lovely couple currently have two daughters together. 

Number 2. Choi Tae Joon and Park Shin Hye 

While they're one of the younger couples on this list, their love story isn't any less romantic. Actor and actress Park Shin Hye graduated from the same college where the actress was Tae Joon's senior. 

The two went on to appear in the King of Dramas, where they acted as a couple. Their role was a simple cameo, but viewers sang praises of their chemistry, so it must have been fate that they began dating in 2018. 

In November of 2021, Park Shin Hye announced that she was marrying Choi Tae Joon in January of 2022 and that they were expecting a baby. She stated that while it might take a while, she will return to acting even after she has her child. 

The actors enjoyed a private ceremony with friends and family. They had their baby boy on May 31st, 2022. We just adore Jae Tae Joon and Park Shin Hye's relationship as colleagues to lovers, and we wish and hope for a happy future for them. 

Number 1. Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin 

One of the most exciting love stories of the past few years is the one of Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin. After starring in a film together in 2018 where their characters were enemies, several rumors spread that the two became an item, but both of their agencies denied it firmly. 

Each time, Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin stole our hearts with their beautiful relationship in the hit 2019- 2020 drama Crash Landing on You. The chemistry between the two characters was undeniable, and in January 2021, it was confirmed that the two were dating. 

On February 10th, 2022, Hyun bin and Son Ye Jin took to Instagram to announce that they were getting married. They had a private wedding with friends and family in March of this year. 

In June, Son Ye Jin shared news of her pregnancy and later revealed their baby boy is due in December. We wish Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin all the best with the precious new life that has come to them.
